# Forum Fortress

> Spam protection for self-hosted forums. Install the plugin for your forum and complete its first connection; supported activity is then checked automatically, without a CAPTCHA or extra step for members.

Forum Fortress is a plugin-connected spam prevention service, not a hosted forum. The plugin sends supported registrations, posts, replies, edits and profile or signature changes from the forum server. Forum Fortress considers available network, account, content, link and other abuse signals, then returns an allow or block decision for the forum to apply. The exact checks and settings depend on the forum integration. Protection starts with new activity after installation; existing spam is not removed automatically.

The plugin handles routine checks without a portal account or credit card. The optional portal provides decision reasons and history, insights, usage and account controls. Checks run between servers; Forum Fortress does not add a CAPTCHA, challenge page or front-end script to the forum.

Forever Free uses the same core spam checks as Core and Pro, with a lower allowance. Eligible new forums receive a 30-day Pro trial. Core adds capacity and longer insights history. Pro adds more capacity, custom and combined analytics, interactive graphs, exports, the MultiMod workspace for teams managing multiple forums, and human telephone support. Current limits, prices and eligibility are on the pricing page; higher-volume options are available by enquiry.

Raw personal details in decision data are retained for no more than five days. Qualifying comparison signals can then be kept as one-way hashes under the privacy policy. Private messages are not scanned. Administrators can choose global live processing or a UK-, EU- or US-only route; global emergency fallback for a region-locked check is controlled by the plugin setting.
