How a check works

A decision goes back to your forum.

The plugin sends a check from your forum server and gets an allow or block result for your forum to apply. The reason is available for review.

Registrations and first posts

Check new accounts and early posts where link spam often appears.

Posts, replies and edits

Catch links added to older posts when a member edits them.

Profiles and signatures

Check profile, signature and contact fields. Private messages are never scanned.

Checks begin after installation and connection. Existing spam is not removed automatically.

How decisions are made

Context matters more than one match.

Forum Fortress considers network, account, content and link signals together. One reputation match does not decide every case. The plugin sends the fields needed for each check. Choose global routing or UK, EU or US processing. Plugin settings control fallback behaviour.

Content and links

Submitted content and external links can be checked. Stored link details may be reduced to domains or hostnames.

Short-lived personal data

Raw personal details are kept for no more than five days, then replaced with one-way hashes for longer-term comparison.

For members

No extra test for members.

Checks take place between the plugin and Forum Fortress. No CAPTCHA, challenge page or Forum Fortress script is added to the forum.
