Forum Fortress documentation
Forum Fortress helps keep spam away from your community without putting every new member through extra hoops.
Once installed, the plugin checks registrations, logins, posts, replies, profile updates, and other common spam entry points. Clear spam can be stopped before it appears publicly, while uncertain cases can be sent to review depending on your settings and plan.
You can start with just the forum plugin. The customer portal is there when you want recent activity, moderation tools, reports, plan management, or support.

How Forum Fortress fits together
Forum Fortress has two main parts:
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Forum plugin | Runs inside your forum and sends checks to Forum Fortress when people register, sign in, post, or update their profile. |
| Customer portal | Lets you review activity, manage connected forums, use moderation tools, check reports, manage your plan, and contact support. |
You do not need to create a portal account before installing the plugin. Install the plugin first, then connect the forum to your account when you are ready.
Privacy and outbound access
Forum Fortress works by sending supported forum activity to our anti-spam service for analysis.
If your server uses an outbound firewall, allow outbound HTTPS traffic on port 443 to hosts ending in:
*.ffapi.net
Before installing on a live community, read Privacy and network access. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may need to update your forum's privacy policy before enabling the plugin.

When in doubt
The live product is the best guide. If the plugin or portal shows a setting, warning, limit, or plan detail that differs from this documentation, follow what you see on screen.
If you need help:
- Check the FAQ for common questions
- Try the troubleshooting guide for technical issues
- Use Contact in the portal for account-specific problems
When contacting support, include your forum URL, what you were doing, and roughly when it happened.
